Earlier this year, more than 25,000 people were killed in the military conflict, mostly indigenous Tamils. The Refugee Action Collective has assumed the role of organiser and presenter of this event solely at the direct request of members of Brisbane's Tamil community. It is due only to their determination that the event should go ahead despite vigorous opposition from various quarters, that it is still on this coming Sunday. Come along to express your support for them, but also to educate yourself with facts you won't learn from the media or mainstream politicians.
